Home Police MenuMobile Evaluation Team (MET)
We are proud of one of our newest units, the Mobile Evaluation Team (MET). The team was formed to improve outcomes when law enforcement officers respond to mental health crises.
It is a co-responder unit at Livermore Police that is comprised of a full-time police officer (Officer Graycar) and full-time clinician (Lily Oberdorfer) who have specialized training and provide crisis, de-escalation, and stabilization services to the community.
Among the Mobile Evaluation Team’s duties include:
- Provide field-based services to community members in acute mental health crisis
- Respond to 911 calls for service that involve a mental health/psychiatric component
- Act as a resource for patrol officers as well as provide training for department personnel
-
Decrease the use of involuntary psychiatric hospitalizations by facilitating voluntary inpatient admission/treatment
-
Reduce repeat calls for service by ensuring individuals that are placed on psychiatric detentions are transported to the most appropriate LPS designated facility
