The Livermore Police Department is proud to present the Community Police Academy (CPA). This program was established in 2001 and aligns with LPD’s forward-thinking approach to Community Oriented Policing.

Participants will receive presentations on various roles within LPD and the dynamics of the Law Enforcement profession. Some topics included are Patrol Procedures, De-Escalation and Use of Force, Dispatch, Records, Traffic, Horizons Family Counseling, Investigations, and much more! Participants will also be offered a Scenario/Demonstration Day, Patrol ride-a-long and Dispatch sit-a-long, and a tour of the police facility.

The academy currently runs 13 weeks long and meets generally every Wednesday from 6pm-9:30pm. This is a free program offered to community members who live and/or work in the City of Livermore. There are no physical requirements to attend.

Participant Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must live or work in the City of Livermore
  • Must not have a prior felony conviction
  • No misdemeanor convictions within 3 years
  • Must be able to present a valid photo ID
  • Applicants are subject to a background check for clearance to participate

Once students have successfully completed the CPA, they are invited to apply to join the Community Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA). These citizens are the primary source of our valued Police Department Volunteers, who continue to support and assist the department in various community events and activities.

Submit your application to be considered for the CPA. Understand there is an extensive waiting list, as this is a very popular program. We will do our best to communicate as classes become available.
