Livermore Police July 4th Holiday Activity Report

Post Date:07/05/2025
On July 4, 2025, Livermore Police responded to more than 90 fireworks-related calls for service. Additional officers were assigned to patrol duties throughout the evening to help manage the increased demand. In addition to fireworks complaints, officers handled several significant incidents that required major allocation of resources, including the recovery of a firearm and a drive-by shooting.

Just before 12:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a large fight involving approximately 30 people near the intersection of Chestnut Street and North I Street. A witness reported seeing a man with a gun running toward Chestnut Street and North Livermore Avenue. Officers located the suspect, who ran from the scene. A perimeter was established, and officers found the suspect hiding in a nearby backyard. A discarded handgun was also recovered. The suspect, a 17-year-old male from Livermore, was arrested for multiple charges, including carrying a concealed firearm and being a minor in possession of a handgun. He was booked into Juvenile Hall. No serious injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

About 30 minutes later, in the same area, officers responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted with a knife. The victim had visible injuries but was uncooperative. A suspect has not been identified.

Then, just before 2 a.m., officers were dispatched to a drive-by shooting on the 300 block of Chestnut Street. A man in his 20s had sustained a gunshot wound. Officers rendered immediate medical aid before the victim was transported to the hospital. He is expected to survive. The Criminal Investigations Bureau is actively investigating. No suspect information is being released at this time.

“I know the widespread use of illegal fireworks continues to frustrate many in our community, including public safety personnel,” said Livermore Police Chief Jeramy Young. “I want to thank all the officers and dispatchers who worked last night to manage an exceptionally high call volume while continuing to prioritize public safety.”
